Prof. Emanuele Panizzi

Emanuele Panizzi is an Electronic Engineer, Associate Professor in Computer Science at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. He is a faculty of “Ingegneria dell’informazione, informatica e statistica” - “Dipartimento di Informatica”.

His current research focuses on using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), specifically to detect users’ behavior and the context in the two domains of smart parking and earthquake early warning. His previous research areas have been Annotations, Usability testing, compiler and programming languages, and parallel computing.
He co-authored more than 50 publications.

Panizzi teaches HCI and Software Architecture courses at Sapienza’s Artificial Intelligence Bachelor Program and Computer Science Master program. Currently, he is the advisor of four Ph.D. students in Computer Science and 10+ master’s and bachelor’s students, and he has supervised over 350 theses in his career.

He has been a consultant for major national and international corporations, including Venere.com S.p.A. (2004-2008), Expedia Inc.(2008-2009), Telepass S.p.A. (2016), Immobiliare.it (2015-2022).

Panizzi has had significant experience in coordinating and directing research groups, laboratories, companies, and corporate units. He supervised teamwork of groups of 4 to 80 people, leading research and development and constantly and extensively applying technological transfer of research results.
